Will The Bay of Bengal has another low pressure development after cyclone vardah that lashed couple of years back. A new cyclonic storm-like circulation will be a boon for chennai citizens.

In about 2 to 3 days time the low pressure area may boost into light storm along A&N islands. The Skymet Weather reported favorable weather conditions to further intensify into a depression. However the system is very long from the Indian coast. During this time over the space of Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh may remain unaffected and dry weather. If it develops into low pressure may move northwesterly direction and again re-curve to north & northeast direction towards Myanmar seas.., levelling over Southeast Bay of Bengal and annexing south Andaman Sea. Due to which Andaman & Nicobar islands had already received moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers for the past 24 hours.

Tamilnadu Weathermen says that the sea surface temperatures are warm as of now. The to-date north-east monsoon has not given rain to the expectation according to the farming community and water managers. The Meteorological department has made prediction of a new depression forming over the Bay of Bengal in the mid of June 2018.

The weak depession may also provide isolated rains to different parts of the State so that the city’s dry reservoirs like Poondi, Cholavaram, Red Hills and Chembarambakkam gets filled up to 11 tmc of water in total from its prevailing 1.7 tmc. The present WATER LEVEL AT RESERVOIRS

  • Poondi: 0.62 tmc
  • Cholavaram: 0.083 tmc
  • Red Hills: 0.459 tmc
  • Chembarambakkam: 0.544 tmc.

Alike vardha puyal this low pressure if develops can give enough rainfall to sustain until june 2018. As of now, the states of Mon, Rakhine and Shan states in burma and Ayeyarwady, Bago, Mandalay, Tanintharyi and Yangon regions is expecting rains due to rough seas with strong winds and large waves in the coastal area. The wind gale Gusting up to 35 miles per hour.

The temperature in upper regions of Sagaing, Kachin and Chin states is more than average for the month of January. Car Nicobar has received so far rainfall of 98 mm while Hut Bay had 21 mm of rainfall apart from Nancowry receiving 60 mm of rainfall in last twenty four hours.

List of Chennai and its surronding areas looking for rains in the coming month, especially in the catchment areas around thiruvallur will be a great boon for chennai people, if it rains heavily in June / July 2018
