Protest Against Chennai Salem 8 Way Green Expressway – 6 Arrested By Police:
Farmers and villagers continue to protest in Salem for the Chennai-Salem 8 way green road project. This has resulted in a climate of explosion in the region.
The government plans to set up a Green Line between Salem and Chennai. Accordingly, this road has been proposed to arrive in Chennai via 5 districts of Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Thiruvannamalai and Kanchipuram.
7,000 acres of land will be acquired for this green road construction. It has been reported that agricultural lands, forests, rivers will be affected and 150 villages will be acquired by agricultural land. The public was arguing with the officials who came to measure the land.
In the meanwhile, Seemam police arrested and arrested six farmers who were conducting the struggle for more than 4 days in the area, including Achanangattapatti, Serikadu and Kopanur.
The relatives of the farmers who protested against the police were concentrated in front of the police station. Furthermore, villagers have decided to fight against the hand. This has increased tension in the region. The police are heavily concentrated in that area.
