Starting July, the city’s dwellers can make application for passports online through post offices. The Dept. of Posts, accompanied with the Regional Passport Office, Chennai is forming modalities to aid customers make registration of the passport applications online.
The printed blank applications can be had from the employees of the postal department. As the applicants surrender filled-in forms, the postal staff will make upload the data online. Now the applicants should bring essential documents like proof of age and residential proof.
The workers have also been coached to help applicants in filling up the forms. As on registration, the customers will get acknowledgment receipt system generated with appointment date for personal interview at all Passport Seva Kendras.
The service to be introduced in twenty five post offices in the Chennai City Region CCR, comprising few in Vellore & Puducherry. With this ten post offices in Chennai will be located and the service will be introduced to extra offices based on the patronage. The Applicants should pay Rs.100 for the online service.
The customers can pay fee via State Bank of India. The department is asked an exclusive user name ID to provision its employees to register multiple applications.
